2. Granville Historical Society Museum

Just a few minutes down the road in neighboring Granville, you’ll find the Granville Historical Society Museum at 115 Broadway E. This premier museum also contains a rare book archive and regularly hosts local historians and experts to educate people about the unique history of the region. You would be hard-pressed to find a more comprehensive locally oriented museum in the area.

You can also find plenty of books on the history of Granville and its importance in the fight against slavery, a friendly staff of docents able to give you more information about what to do and see in Granville, and tons of resources right at the museum itself. This museum is just a short drive down the road from Newark, and it’s well worth the visit.  

3. National Heisey Glass Museum

Visit the National Heisey Glass Museum at 6th & Church for a comprehensive history of the art of glass making and the history of Heisey Glass. You’ll learn about the importance of these pieces and be able to check out rare artifacts from an exhibit of over 4,000 pieces. If you love art and history, this is an excellent museum to put on your list.
