4 Fun Spring Activities You Can Drive to Near Newark, OH

It’s the time of year for appreciating sunshine, flowers, and getting back out on the roads. We don’t have far to drive here in Newark, OH to take advantage of some great spring activities. It’s time to enjoy your Kia Rio LX, appreciate the ease of parking with your rearview camera, and attend spring-themed events. Here are some of the local adventures we have marked on our calendars.

1. Fairy Tale Adventure 

The Ohio Center for History, Art, & Technology is hosting an adventurous night at the museum, complete with Fairy Godmother. Attendees will be able to climb aboard the Jolly Roger, explore Sherwood Forest, and check out an Enchanted Castle. There will be some of your favorite characters hanging out at this event, ready to meet you.

This event is taking place at 55 S 1st St in Newark. It’s happening on Friday, May 12th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

2. Downtown Newark Food Truck Festival

Head to 36 E Canal St for a food truck festival on Saturday, May 13th from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. There is no entry fee for this event. There are covered seating areas in the event of rain. If it’s a sunny spring day there will be open lawn space if you want to bring your own blankets or chairs.

This is the eighth time this event has been held. You can count on seeing a long line of options, so come hungry.

3. Vegetable and Flower Gardening Class

If you have questions about the best way to take care of your spring plants, you are not alone. Some experts are coming together to teach us how to maintain our plant investments. After the class, there will be a garden tour.

This spring event is taking place on Saturday, May 20th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. It’s happening at 771 E Main St, Ste 103.

4. The Grand Opening of the Farmer’s Market

It’s Farmer’s Market season again and the grand opening of the season is starting off in a big way. There will be fresh produce and other vendors, alongside food trucks and live music. You can expect to see Pitabilities & Drip Dreams Ice Cream for sale. The Newark High School Band & Jazz Band will be performing.

The opening of the season is happening on Friday, May 5th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. You’ll want to put 25 E Canal St into your navigation system.
